(BDO Account Opening, SM City Cebu)
I usually do a lot of comparison and research when I think about opening a bank account.
My bias in account opening will always be the affordability and the easy requirements. (the cheaper the better! Meow!) There are several banks in the Philippines who requires so much papers from you.
Like, I can provide you all the IDs the government has: SSS, PHILHEALTH, BIR, POSTAL ID, even VOTER’S ID.
But I do not have a proof of billing. Okay bye.
Frustrating isn’t it? Only one lacking document and you’re out.
Some of us do not have a billing statement. I for one, is one of those people. I do not have any credit card bills or other even a phone plan bill. In lieu of a billing statement under your name, banks would require you to have a Barangay Clearance. But what if you are not a registered resident? You are renting a room without a rent contract?
You can also have the electricity or water bill of your building, WITH an original authorization letter from your landowner saying you can use the bill and is a tenant in her premise, accompanied by a photocopy of his or her valid ID. So much hassle? Feels.
Good news! As from my experience, there are already banks who ONLY requires you to present 2 ID cards! Yep, read it right, JUST 2 IDs! Yay!
BDO (SM City Cebu Branch)
They only require 2 valid IDs: Primary and secondary.
I suggest you use your passport for your primary ID.
and then another ID which bears the same address with your passport.
What to prepare?
Account opening would be Php 2,000.00 for ATM savings account and Php 10,000.00 for Passbook savings.
2 copies of recent colored ID photo (2×2 or 1×1)
2 Valid IDs
You may present the following IDs:
Passport, Digitized Postal ID, UMID ID, SSS ID, PRC ID.
Your Company ID could also serve as your secondary ID and you NSO birth certificate.
PS: Have your social security number and TIN (BIR) numbers with you. Banks would require you to input either one. Yep, a requirement, too.
|BDO Deposit slip. Cat got it fast!|
Just got to the New Accounts section (Meeeeow, usually located near the entrance, on the side)
and inform the new accounts officer that your want to open an account. They will give you a form, few scratch here and there, sign here and then voila! You’re done!
After giving the minimum opening amount (or higher, depends on you), you will be given a deposit slip. This will contain your 10 DIGIT ACCOUNT NUMBER. You will not be able to withdraw just yet but you will be able to deposit already until you get your ATM card. They will inform you on when to get your ATM card. For passbook accounts, it’s usually released on the same day.
You may claim your ATM card after 5 to 7 working days. Got mine in 5 days!
Got yours? Tell me your experience!
